Painting groups

 

See below for a list of this year's painting groups.  The afternoon groups tend to be quieter than the morning groups but, if you would like to join a group, it's always wise to contact the group leader first.  Alternatively, email us to enquire.

Monday Afternoon (2.00 pm - 4.00pm)

Watercolour Painting with Caroline Warrington

A group where each member does their own thing, mainly watercolour and acrylic at the moment.  An established group that welcomes new members to share ideas and experience.


Autumn and Spring sessions. Also Summer if members wish to continue in sufficient numbers. 

 
Monday Evening (7.00 pm - 9.00 pm)
Life Group with Chris Ward
An inexpensive and relaxed opportunity to explore this traditional art form.  Those wishing to try life work for the first time are as welcome as those with more experience.  No tuition provided but beginners benefit from watching and talking to others in a friendly atmosphere. 

 

Term fee around around £45 includes cost of model.

 

Autumn (starts 14 Sept) and Spring sessions of approximately 13 weeks each.

Tuesday Morning (9.30 am -12.00 noon)

General Painting Any Media with Jill Blower

A thriving group of varying abilities using a variety of media.  No tuition but the group members support each other in various ways, including informal and helpful criticism of each other’s work.

 

Autumn, Spring and Summer terms of approximately 13 weeks each. 

Tuesday Afternoon (2 pm - 4pm)
Afternoon reserved for classes and other club activities.

Wednesday Morning (9.30 am -12.00 noon)
Portrait with Steve Johnson

This group uses a variety of media, styles, sizes of work - in fact the whole approach to portraiture. Models usually sit for 3 sessions, repeating the same pose decided by the whole group. No formal tuition; much shared advice on technique and ideas.

 

Additional model costs, shared between members, brings  total to £25-£30 per term. 

 

Autumn and Spring terms of approximately 13 weeks each.

Thursday morning is somewhat of a mix and match affair. We are a very friendly group using all media from pastels to oils.  All abilities welcome though less suited to absolute beginners.

Thursday afternoon (1:30pm - 3:30pm)

General painting - Hilda Ridley

A lively, friendly group, mainly working in watercolour.  No formal tuition but lots of gentle encouragement and support from other members.

 

Organises occasional outdoor painting expeditions & other activities.

 

Excellent for anyone just finishing a beginners course or for more experienced.

General painting with Mick Walsh

This is a lively group of artists of all abilities. All media are used, with members working from their own sketches, photographs- or imagination. Plenty of help and advice available.

Suitable for improvers to skilled artists.  Graduates from Beginners Classes will also receive a warm welcome.

This is a new group so please come along and join in.
